Sika is a common adhesive name in the construction market, and we carry a host of their products proudly, including their sealants and caulks, which are commonly regarded as second to none.
The Sikaflex Textured Sealant (pictured below) is a great example of the durability and flexibility that Sika brings to the proverbial table. This one component, moisture-cured elastomeric sealant is the perfect choice for filling, sealing, and weatherproofing joints and gaps. These joints are naturally occurring for construction professionals and can usually be applied to brick and blockwork, masonry, wood, concrete, metal frames, around windows and door frames, and much more. Sika Textured Sealant is not only maximally resistant to weathering, cutting, and tearing, but it’s environmentally sensitive too, having a polyurethane makeup, which is the EPA’s preference for reducing radon.
The Sika Boom, a one-component, polyurethane foam solution is another product from Sika that not only fills and seals gaps, but insulates them too. The foam, which comes in a pressurized 20 Oz. can with a straw application adapter included, is a quick curing, highly expandable (2 to 3 times its original size) solution that has the ability to resist extreme heat and cold. To be used in filling, insulating, and sealing around gaps, corner joints, exterior cracks, pipes, duct and plate penetrations, etc., this multi-purpose insulator ensures that the hazards of water, weather, and time are kept at bay.
The Chem-Set RTV 6500 Hi-Temperature Silicone is a high performance, specialty sealant that gives contractors, builders, and the like excellent performance, even in the midst of unforgiving scenarios. This one-component, vulcanizing RTV acetoxy cure silicone provides extremely stubborn adhesion in potentially high temperature environments. Applications that fit this high temperature bill include metals, tile, ceramic, glass, stone, concrete, and more. Further, this VOC compliant silicone not only forms air and water tight bonds, it does so while meeting today’s Green Building measures.
We hope that you enjoyed Part I of our blog duo on those adhesives, sealants, and insulators that professionals in the construction market trust to complete their projects. In our follow-up blog, we’ll continue highlighting a few of our favorites in the construction industry. Do stay tuned!
